Jaffna workshop on ‘Trade Procedures Functionality and Export Services Available to Sri Lankan SMEs’will be held on Thursday, 10th November 2022, 9am-5pm at Green Grass Hotel.

This event is organized under the framework of the GlZ-BMZ funded project, ‘Trade Facilitation for SMEs in SriLanka’. As you may be aware, the Trade Information Portal (TlP) is managed and hosted by the DoC. To make the TIP more user-friendly, the DoC has collaborated with ITC, EU and GIZ to embed a step-by-step procedure functionality which maps the import and export procedures of selected products more user-friendly manner (stepbysteptrade.lk). This functionality, launched earlier in 2019, is extremely useful for existing and potential exporters and importers in finding out how to export or import products. In line with that, this workshop will cover the area of (i) Services provided by key Trade support institutes (Export Development Board, Industrial Development Board, National Enterprise Development Authority and Trade Chambers); & (ii) Introducing the new Electronic Certificate of Origin system to the participants.

As such, awareness-raising workshops for a selected number of SMEs will be held in Jaffna to share more details of the platform and how to utilize it and also to gather participants' perceptions about the ease of exporting and importing and the challenges faced when dealing with regulations and formalities, to simplify trade procedures in Sri Lanka.
