| Description | In accordance to the Antiquities Ordinance of 1940 any objects lying or being or being found in Sri Lanka, which date or may reasonably be believed to date from a period prior to the 2nd day of March,1815 is considered to be Antiquities. |
| Comments | If any object is identified as an antiquity by the Department of Archaeology, that object is prohibited from being displaced out of Sri lanka. Only Objects which are not considered as antiquities are issued a letter of Permission to export.This Permission is considered as Valid by Sri Lanka Customs. |
